I come from a background that has been involved in public service most of my adult life. I want to continue to work for you, creating better living standards, improving our schools, and make public safety, a top priority.

I have learned what it takes to find solutions, to navigate complicated governmental agencies, and to get things done.

Together we can continue to make Agawam a great place to live and work.

MEET BOB

LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

Bob has lived in Agawam his entire life, attending Agawam public schools, raising and educating his three children, Gina, David and Margo, just as his parents have and their parents before them.

Bob earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Studies and Interpersonal Relationships from American International College.

Bob’s introduction to public service started with police service to the Town of Agawam; retiring after 32 years of credible service at the rank of Lieutenant.

Additionally, he served as adjunct professor at Westfield State College, Springfield Technical Community College and the Western Mass Regional Police Academy, where his major area of instruction was constitutional law and legal updates for inservice and reserve police officers.

Bob went on to become an Arbitrator with the Better Business Bureau of Central New England, where he has earned several accommodations and the distinction of Arbitrator of the Year in recognition of outstanding service to the Dispute Resolution Program.

After retirement, Bob continues his commitment to community by now serving the people of Agawam on the City Council since first elected in 1999, where he remains actively involved in working to make Agawam a better and more desirable place to live. In July of 2008, Bob was appointed Committee Chairperson of the Feeding Hills Sewer Project, where he and his committee spearheaded and resurrected a once defunct, costly and overburdened sewer project and made it a cost effective reality.

Phase One completed in June of 2011, and Phase Two was about to begin in the Spring 0f 2013. However, Mayor Cohen has abruptly halted the project where it continues to sit in limbo.

However, Bob still believes that this project is a key element to the future of Agawam's financial stability. It will not only bring relief to those in desperate need of sewer services, but it will also increase property values and open endless opportunities for new growth and expand our tax base. Once completed, this project will give Agawam a clear road to financial independence and less reliant of diminishing state and federal aid. He still remains hopeful to it’s completion.

Bob was appointed to the Energy Conservation Commission and looks forward to addressing issues of conserving energy in Agawam’s public buildings and in the daily operations of providing city services.

The Commission’s goal is to provide a series of recommendations focusing on ideas to create aGreener” and more “Efficient” Agawam. In April of 2011, Bob authored a Resolution to make Agawam by proclamation energy Efficient Community to be known as a "GREEN COMMUNITY", which was unanimously passed by The City Council.

Bob created special legislation to align our police reserve officers with Massachusetts General Laws, to allow for the use of retired police officers to supplement Agawam’s public safety programs, a practice of which that has never been done in Agawam before.

This legislation was intended to promote a more cost efficient police presence to our public safety programs.

A member of Agawam’s Friends of the Senior’s,

he became an active fundraiser for the new Senior Center building.

Being a strong advocate for the elder population, Bob believes that our senior population is the most viable and underutilized asset in our community; a condition which he would like to see changed.

Bob continues to honor his commitment to community, and remains constant to his goal in making Agawam a world-class city that everyone can afford, and be proud to call home.

Committed to expanding our tax base, to stabilize Agawam’s future through controled lower tax spending. Create transparency initiatives and performance based budgeting practices that can effectively control our spending and reduce our tax base.

He is a long proponent of better marketing strategies and develop community partnerships to attract new business to the community and to assist Agawam's already established businesses. He has a clear vision for vibrant shopping districts and neighborhoods with well maintained parks for people to enjoy.

Bob resides on Colemore Street, Feeding Hills section of Agawam. He is a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a member of Agawam UNICO, the Massachusetts Police Association, the Massachusetts Municipal Employees Association, Friends of the Senior Center, and Friends of the Agawam Library and Friends of Robinson Park.

Bob's Pledge:“As your City Councilor, I will continue to be your voice and to work tirelessly as your advocate in City government".

If you need assistance, or wish to provide feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me directly or through this website.
